Koldwave Analog Chorus
Koldwave Analog Chorus and Vibrato
How do you improve on an iconic pedal like the Boss CE-2 chorus? It’s always been my favourite chorus pedal. This was the challenge I gave myself. After a year of tinkering and countless revisions and roadblocks, I’m super excited to share the result with you.
All those classic 80s lush chorus sounds we love are in there. But I wanted to add more functionality, range and features. I gave it a little more depth and speed than the classic CE-2 circuit. Now with the speed knob fully clockwise it can do the rotary speaker thing. I added a vibrato mode as well and I’m really happy with how that turned out. It gives you all the lo-fi, warped vinyl, seasick sounds you could want. The warp knob is the secret weapon and gets you those super detuned rubber band sounds as well.
I also made it true bypass unlike the original. And most importantly, I reworked the eq filtering in the preamp to really bring the CE-2 circuit to life. My 1980 CE-2 sounds like it has a blanket over the amp next to the Koldwave. I removed a lot of the CE-2 muddiness, giving it more of a “3D” tone. I’m very happy to say the least. Needless to say, my old CE-2 will be collecting dust on the shelf now. It was my favourite chorus pedal.
