Tony Iommi in a pedal! But so much more! A great all-around amp-like distortion pedal!
Tony is famous for using a treble booster into a cranked Laney amp. I couldn't find anyone else doing separate foot-switchable 2-in-1 emulation of this classic setup.
The right side is a silicon treble booster version of the classic Rangemaster treble booster. The boost knob controls the amount of treble pushed boost.
The left side is my recreation of a touch sensative full-stack Laney tube amp. Carefully selected and biased JFET transistors are employed to emulate not only the sound, but the feel of Tony's Laney amplifiers on those classic albums. This circuit blurs the line between a preamp and an overdrive.
Like a true preamplifier, it’s very reactive to what comes before it, so it’s best placed after other drive
pedals but before modulation. However, it also generates more than enough drive on its own and can be used as a standalone overdrive pedal just like any other.
The bass and treble controls are for the left amplifer side to dial it in to taste. The bass control is more like a low/mids control and goes from a flat bass response to a pushed mids/high presence tone as you turn it clockwise. The treble control adds subtle high end to the amplifer side. Designed to not be too bright as the treble booster adds treble when engaged along with the amplifer side.
Featuring whisper quiet soft-touch relay switching. True bypass. Designed and built in Canada with love. Accepts standard 9V centre-neg power supply (no batteries).
