Bodega is a versatile preamp/overdrive pedal. Artwork by my pal Stefan Tosheff, who is a super talented artist and guitar player. The reason why I call this a preamp is because the circuit topology is very similar to the preamp section of classic tube amplifiers.
The tubes are replaced with cascading JFET stages, which have been tuned to replicate the dynamics, warmth and response of a good vintage amp. This is not a clone of any pedal, this was designed by me on the breadboard, but is very similar to other "amp in a box" pedals such as the Benson Preamp, Wampler Black 65 etc. I compaed this to the Benson Preamp and I like mine more - it has a bit more bass response and "3D' tone.
I designed it to have a very useable EQ range, and a good range of gain from clean boost to harmonically-rich amp-like almost fuzzy distortion (not metal). I like to use this pedal similar to a second amp channel on my small Fender combo, or to add more tube-like feel and warmth to a solid-state amp.
